What most people would call a career, Joe Zeigler calls an interest. He has had about a dozen of them, and none of them went the way anyone would have planned.
He left home at sixteen. He moved into a fire station in Williamsburg, Virginia, and caught the school bus out front. Before he was anything else, he was a firefighter, running calls in a colonial town that dressed the eighteenth century up for tourists while the twentieth century burned in the margins.
He put himself through Oklahoma State studying engineering and economics by selling his car, tending bar, and driving a taxi.
He later consulted for Digital Equipment Corporation, opened six computer stores, founded software companies, and eventually turned to writing full time.
He is the author of the Bots series, the Gorge series, political nonfiction including The Art of the Lie and PrumpTutin, and numerous essays published on Burnt Ground.
Joe Zeigler lives in Crystal River, Florida, and Santa Fe, New Mexico, with his wife, Lanying, and their cat, Cat.
